How Life Can Be Twice As Good

I visited a local rhododendron park last month and these photos have been quietly waiting ever since.  Today seems like the perfect day to share them with you in celebration of Summer's beginning and in honor of a very dear friend's birthday.

Happy Birthday, Rachel.  Life with you, it really is half as hard and twice as good.  I love you.

  1. Gorgeous! If we have rhododendrons here, I don't know where they are. (The butterflies are a trade-off, I guess.) So nice to enjoy yours. I hope you enjoyed or are enjoying your reunion. What a blessing to be strong enough to go. Grace to you in Jesus, friend.

    1. @tinuviel: And here I was thinking that rhododendrons would be "boring" for everyone--obviously I've lived far too long in the Pacific Northwest where they are plentiful. So glad I could give you a little glimpse of something you don't have nearby! They really are beautiful and come in such an array of colors.

I am home and resting up from the camping trip--I made some adjustments to make it less stressful than last year and it mostly worked out well. Enjoyed the sun and all the hanging-out time.

Grace to you, too, Dear One.

    1. @Rachel: You are so very welcome, Dearest Sister-Friend. Pure Grace that God brought our lives together and has allowed us to carry each others' burdens and share each others' joys. Praying for many, many more years together.

  3. Lovely rhododendron photos. We have them in Oregon and I have a pink one in our front lawn. I enjoy taking photos of them. There's a place on the Ore coast that has a festival for them in May. I should go sometime!

    1. @Grandma Becky: I didn't realize you were an Oregonian! I grew up on the Oregon Coast before we moved up here to Washington. I didn't know there was a rhododendron festival down there--what fun! I have a purple rhodie in my garden and hope someday to have a yellow one. They are such a great addition to the landscape with their evergreen foliage and profuse blooms.

  4. What an explosion of creative glory here! In Christ and through the work of your hands. Love the way you get right up close to the world and make it speak its praise. Love you so. Bernadette

    1. @Bernadette: Ah, Friend. As always, you are giving me something to ponder here. I think that all of creation is speaking His praise and most of the time we just don't bend low enough to hear it. Which makes me think about Jesus commanding the rocks to cry out in praise--I wonder if they already do cry out in praise and we just can't hear them? And what an honor to be given these eyes and ears to see and hear His glory in the tiniest blooms and leaves. Thank you for love, Dear Friend. You are a gift.
