Forgetting the Sun

Raindrops tap against the glass
Obscuring the view
There isn't much to see anyway
It's winter—
Wet, cold, and gray
There are days when the sun comes out
But the memory of its warmth
Quickly fades as the clouds rush in

Sometimes life is that way, too
Drops of disappointment
Frustration and loss
Fall across our faces and impede our sight
Not every day is like this
But as the dark of strife descends
We soon forget what came before
We forget who we were and still are
We forget hope

Somehow we must learn
To remember the Son
Even in winter
