Spring Is Coming…

The official start of Spring is still 25 days away. If you, like me, are a little antsy to see and smell all the beautiful blooms in store for us, I have good news: My newest book is finally finished!

Spring: A Season of Beauty is a photography collection celebrating the glorious season of Spring in all its light, texture, and color. With 57 full-color photographs, the only thing missing is the scent of hyacinths and cherry blossoms.

Excerpted from the Introduction:

Over the years, I have come to appreciate every season in its own right, taking notice of the unique way each one testifies to the Creator. Even so, Spring will always hold a special place in my heart. It is both the symbolic representation and the tangible demonstration of awakening, of life coming out of death, and of hope unfettered.

Yes, indeed. Hope unfettered. What a beautiful and wondrous thing. Thank you, Jesus, for Spring!

My book is now available through VioVio and can be previewed and purchased here: www.viovio.com/shop/63861 (click on the "open book" symbol beneath the cover photo for a miniature preview). There are a multitude of sizes, formats, and prices to choose from—and don't forget that purchases over $30 qualify for the $1.99 Super Saver shipping.

It's the perfect cure for those late-Winter doldrums!

(PS—If you received an "I owe you" card for Christmas, your copy will be arriving soon. Watch for it in the mail next week!)

Amaryllis

Peachy orange blossoms
Opening unexpectedly
In the middle of February
An encore presentation
Brightening the clouded sky of winter
You must be happy here
On your windowed perch
Growing with abandon
And blooming without fail
You remind me
To breathe deep
And celebrate the color of joy

Choosing Hope

Big news today
Something I didn't see coming
Something about which
I don't know how to feel

Beneath the shock
There is anger
But also hurt
And definitely fear

The future seems more uncertain
Today than it did yesterday
But that isn't really true
Is it?

Tomorrow has always been
Uncertain for me
And known to You—
That hasn't changed

The only thing I've lost
Is the illusion of control
The notion that I know where I'm going
And how to get there

In truth
All I know is this:
You haven't left your throne
And Your purposes still stand

Now the choice is mine
Doubt or believe, fear or hope
I choose to believe
I choose to hope

Why are you downcast, O my soul?
Why so disturbed within me?
Put your hope in God,
For I will yet praise Him

My Savior and my God

(For those who are wondering, big news equals old news from last week—I'm just now getting around to posting)

Winter Morning

Five more minutes
In a warm bed
Soft fluffy robe
Waiting for me when I finally wake up
Hot hot water
Washing away my reluctance
Thick cozy sweater
In a brilliant shade of blue
Yes
Even cold days
Can be good days

Forgetting the Sun

Raindrops tap against the glass
Obscuring the view
There isn't much to see anyway
It's winter—
Wet, cold, and gray
There are days when the sun comes out
But the memory of its warmth
Quickly fades as the clouds rush in

Sometimes life is that way, too
Drops of disappointment
Frustration and loss
Fall across our faces and impede our sight
Not every day is like this
But as the dark of strife descends
We soon forget what came before
We forget who we were and still are
We forget hope

Somehow we must learn
To remember the Son
Even in winter
